Scientific Discovery: Editing Ones Own Genetic Information and The Church   Leave a comment

Introduction

As I was going through the Internet to find an article on scientific news, I came across a Popular Science article in the Health section. The article speaks of how for the first time, “scientists using a combination of gene-editing technologies have corrected mutations in a patient’s own induced stem cells. The breakthrough could pave the way toward reprogramming a person’s own cells to cure genetic diseases, rather than using transplanted organs and drug therapies.” This is indeed a breakthrough in Genetic Medicine that I believe should be investigated further so that we may move away from the specter of Embryonic-Stem Cell Research. Let this new technology be developed, so that we can limit the number of people needed in order to save a life. Read the rest of this entry »

On The “Let Women Die Act” and The Catholic Bishops   Leave a comment

Introduction

Upon reading a recent AlterNet.Org news article concerning the “hypocrisy” of Catholic Bishops who on one hand cover-up the moral failures of their diocese on one hand and yet attack the Pro-Choice position when it comes to a recent piece of legislation that has been called — The “Let Women Die Act.” However, I have written this commentary to discuss the issue in a more fair and balanced way, and to clarify certain points that this AlterNet.Org article fails to do. It should be fair to point out that I am a Pro-Life Libertarian and as such I do speak from the position that Life is Sacred as such it ought to be protected and valued, this position I only recently begun to hold, because when I was younger and immature I believed otherwise. I will be writing about the issue of Abortion in more depth in the future of this blog as well. Read the rest of this entry »

Remember, Remember The 5th of November: A Brief Political Commentary   2 comments

Introduction

Today holds a special significance, today is the 5th of November. On this day is a particularly symbolic day, often called The Gunpowder Plot an attempt by an English Catholic superior in an administrative district in England by the name of Guido “Guy” Fawkes, during the years when Protestant Armies and Catholic Armies had nations that predominantly supported one of the two denominations. Guy Fawkes sought to bring about the end of Protestant England, due to the variety of Oppressions the Catholics were enduring leading up to Gunpowder Plot. However, the Gunpowder plot failed and with that Glorious Revolution occurred essentially destroyed any hope of Catholicism re-establishing itself in Britain. Today, we see a return of Guy Fawkes by the 2005 Film V for Vendetta and the subsequent image of Anonymous, whose purpose it is to address the concerns of those Oppressed in this Day and Age. Christianity, Modern Israel, and Zionism: The Insanity Behind It All! [2/2]   Leave a comment

Introduction

In todays world it is often popularized that Christians Support the Modern Israeli State, and that our actions in the region are rooted in such a foreign policy of defending Israel. However, this view is found wanting, not all Christians and Jews support the existence of the modern Israeli State. This comes back down of course to a discussion of fundamentalism in America specifically and the West in general. It should be fair to point out however that I am not Anti-Semitic, I am not a White Supremacist or anything of that nature, but in the pursuit of Truth and Justice, as well as Mercy this issue must be addressed. Plato’s Republic: Political Manifesto or Psychological Model? [2/2]   Leave a comment

Introduction

Plato’s Republic has been cited as one of the foremost political programs to create a “Perfect Society” the ideal Totalitarian/Authoritarian Society in which Individual Liberties are stripped and extreme Collectivism takes over. However, what if this so-called Political Manifesto was not of a Political Nature at all, but rather a Psychological Model? Suddenly the notion of the Wise and Enlightened Overlord ruling over the large unenlightened mass of men would have to go from an external socio-political context to an internal moral, psychological, and even spiritual context. The aim of this post is to prove the latter, in order to correct the misconceptions of it being the former. Read the rest of this entry »
